A properly developed remap improves power and response while respecting engine limits and retaining a complete copy of the original software. The vehicle should be mechanically healthy before the ECU is modified.
The turbocharger, injection system, temperatures, fuel pressure, clutch and transmission should be checked. An existing weakness may become more noticeable after torque is increased.
Calibration must suit the fuel, intended use and actual vehicle components. A work vehicle does not need the same setup as a car used for performance driving.
Be cautious of generic solutions and exaggerated promises. Every car needs a sensible tune, post-programming checks and the ability to return to the original file.
